My dad was a funny man, always making people laugh. My mum's family gave him the nickname of
'walking encyclopedia' as he was so full of information! My dad moved away to start a new
relationship when i was 19, we just sort of drifted apart after that. I have many regrets about not
being closer to him and i have to live with that on a daily basis.
The day my dad died he was alone, he was able to phone for an ambulance when he started to feel
unwell but he had collapsed before they arrived. Unfortunately they had to wait for the police to
break his door down so we will never know if they would have been able to have saved him.
My dad had fought and beaten lung cancer but had unfortunately developed a heart condition in the
meantime, he had a mini defibrilator fitted but it had been 'playing up' prior to his death, i often
ask myself if it had 'played up' on that day. That's another question that i will never have the
answer to.
Dad leaves behind 3 daughters and 1 son, 3 grandaughters and 5 grandsons, 1 great grandson and 2
great granddaughters.
He was a good man.
Sleep peacefully dad, all is forgiven xxx
Hiya dad, i'm sorry that i haven't been by for a while, i have been so busy with the kids! There's Hayden now as well who you were never able to meet, now we have another son on the way! We've decided to call him Ross David Douglas, the first one to be named after you, hope it makes you proud!
Anyway, love for now dad xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I PROMISE I WILL HEAR…..
Don't think of me as dead and gone
Please understand I have just moved on
God took my hand
When you thought I had died
And led me over to the other side.
There's a better life
Than the one we know
And to it one day we all must go
No more pain, hardship,
Or times of misery
Instead there's all our loved ones
As happy as can be.
You may not see me for a little while
Hear me laugh or see me smile
But I promise you with all my heart
From the ones I love I will never part.
I will always be with you,
However far you walk
I will always listen,
When you feel you need to talk
So when you are saddened
Or driven to despair
Take comfort from the knowledge
That I am always there.
One day soon I will share with you
The happiness I have found
And you will see life doesn't end
Six feet beneath the ground
Forget about graveside visits
And fresh flowers every day
A yearly verse in the papers
Is surely not the way
When there is something you want to say
Or you wish that I was near
Just talk to me like you always did
I promise I will hear.
love theresa a g.t.s.freind xx
